Traffic in and around the MCC continues as a nightmare requiring inter-alia, a finely tuned implementable management particularly in terms of pooled and in plots parking (below and above ground). Non-destined traffic needs proper diversions from MCC, where as destined traffic needs the appropriate development of its multi nodal public transport nodes. For diversion of the non destined traffic the following transport movements are recommended by DUAC:-
1. Linking Rajendra Prasad Road to Shankar Road
This link was existing earlier but due to closer of Talkatora Road the link dis-appears. To establish this link again the thorough fare may be designed below the portion of the Talkatora Road in between Parliament House Annexe and Library block.
2. Link Road South of Ring Railway Line
A new connection from NH-1.NH-2 and trans Yamuna to the Nehru Stadium is feasible along the Railway Line at the South of New Delhi/Kushak Nallah. This can be extended along the Railway Line all the way of Dhaula Kuan so as to offer substantial relief to the East-West movements away from the LBZ.
3. Link Road between Kautilya Marg and Kushk Nallah
To offer further relief to escalating traffic in NDMC area, it is feasible to continue Prithviraj Road along Safdarjung monument, the Race Course and Polo ground so as to meet the improved alignment to the Ashok Hotel roundabout.
4. Link Road between Ring Road and Tilak Bridge
This is an improved connectivity from Zones A (Walled City) and B (Karol Bagh) to NH-1/NH-2 and thence to trans Yamuna along railway operational areas north of Sub-zoneD1. If implemented this would help the diversion of substantial non-destined traffic to the MCC. It may be possible to supplement this connectivity from Sikandra Road/Tilak Marg roundabout and over the railways to NH-1/NH-2.
