The DUAC supports the initiatives of the Delhi Government to create “Heritage Routes” to transform the image of the city. These routes will link important heritage sites along existing roads, but will introduce urban design, landscape, lighting, signage and street furniture inputs to give it a “heritage” identity. The Purana Qila to Lodi Road link will be part of a larger network that has been envisaged from Red Fort to Qutab Minar and Tuglakabad. This section will link Purana Qila and Safdarjung's Tomb. It will pass Humayun's Tomb and the Lodi Gardens from where several institutional and cultural centres function. The project is at the consultancy stage.
